Fall Makeup Bag Essentials

Oh, I can smell it! The scent of crisp cool air and pumpkin scented EVERYTHING! Fall is almost here. For me, that just means one thing…new makeup! Yup, along with a new capsule wardrobe come a sort of makeup capsule wardrobe if you will. This year, I’m trying to keep things simple. I’ve been more attracted to smaller eyeshadow palettes that I actually have a chance of hitting pan on. Also, I love a pinky nude glossy lip to go with everything! 1. L’Oreal Studio Secrets Professional Magic Perfecting Base– I remember picking this up years ago from my local CVS. Primer wasn’t really a thing back then the way it is now. But that little jar was so sleek and sophisticated (more than anything I owned at the time). When I opened it it was so smooth and shiny that I didn’t really want to touch it. This did a bang-up job of filling my pores and I was amazed at just how smooth this makes my skin look and feel even before so much as a drop of foundation hits my face.

            2. Covergirl Vitalist Healthy Elixir Foundation, Soft Sable-My skin is normal to oily, so I have no idea what made me pick up this foundation one day, but I’m glad I did! It smells a bit medicinal, like Noxema, but it disappears after a while. The finish surprised me a lot.  I figured that a foundation hall “Healthy Elixir” would be much…glowy-er than it was.  The finish is a nice skinlike satin that really does make my skin look healthy.

            3. Maybelline The City Mini Palette, Blushed Avenue-I may have a slight problem when it comes to eyeshadow palettes! I can’t resist the allure of countless shadow looks, that I never end up doing because I like what I like! That’s why these mini palettes from Maybelline were so appealing. I have a much better chance of hitting pan of these little things than I do on anything else that I own. The color payoff is respectable, but not out of this world. They have quite a bit of fallout, and some of the mattes feel a bit powdery but nothing that’s a deal breaker.

            4. Maybelline Color Sensational Shine Compulsion Lipstick, Spicy Sangria-When I saw the ads for this lipstick in Walmart I was almost immediately sold. They are “infused” with oil and with fall and winter coming, my dry lips need all the hydration they can get! I wore liquid lipstick almost all summer and I’ve had enough! The formula is so creamy and rich and the color is so bold. Be warned, a lipliner is the only thing standing between you and a crazy amount of feathering.

            5. e.l.f. Gel Eyeliner, Black-I LOVE get eyeliners! Let me say it again for the people in the back…I LOVE GEL EYELINERS!!! But…they are almost impossible to use up before they dry down to dust. That’s why I love the liner from e.l.f. The formula works well, glides on smoothly, but the biggest selling point is the price.  For 3 buck I can feel better about tossing a dried out eyeliner.

            6. L’Oreal Voluminous Lash Paradise Mascara, Blackest Black-I drank the Kool-Aid when this mascara dropped just like everyone else.  I think that It’s supposed to be a “dupe” for Better Than Sex mascara but I wouldn’t know.  Just can’t bring myself to pay 20 some odd bucks for something that has to be replaced every 3 months! This mascara gives me everything I want in a mascara, length, volume, and fluff!  Yes, I said fluff!  I’m not happy unless my eyelashes look like they belong to a bunny! I actually prefer the waterproof formula.  If you have runny eyes like me than wearing the regular formula will run like crazy!

            7. Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Concealer, Hazelnut-Ahh, another cult favorite! It took forever for Maybelline to release a shade that would work for me! Ahh-hem! With winter coming, the smoothing, moisturizing formula keeps my under eye skin looking smooth.  I just wish it didn’t have that darn sponge applicator attached. Other than that, the coverage is great and the color is a spot on match!

            8. Milani Baked Blush, Corroline-I discovered this blush by accident.  I was looking for a new highlighter and didn’t realize what I was picking up was a blush.  Hooray for happy accidents! (RIP Bob Ross) Before this blush, I had no idea that I really preferred a blush with a bit of glow, not crazy glitter shimmer, but a nice subtle glow!  The Corroline shade is universally flattering in my opinion and lasts an eternity!
